Work is scheduled to begin on August 10, 2020 for the Water Source and Treatment Capacity Expansion Project
Work will continue until the onset of winter conditions when a winter shutdown will take place. Temporary asphalt surfacing will be provided for the winter. The remaining work will begin in the spring of 2021. All work will be complete by May 31, 2021. This will be further coordinated with individual water service users approximately two weeks in advance of any work affecting water service.• New 8” sewer main• New asphalt concrete pavement road surfaceThe work will begin at the intersection of Reservoir Road and Wisconsin Avenue and extend along Reservoir Road for approximately a half mile towards the east up to the water treatment plant.The City of Whitefish currently operates a Water Treatment Plant that treats water fromHaskill Creek and Whitefish Lake. The work in Reservoir Road is being completed as part of the City’s Water Source and Treatment Capacity Expansion Project, which will expand the plant’s total capacity from 4 million gallons per day to 6 million gallons per day. This work is required by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality to meet the City’s growing demand during the peak summer months.
