Planning & Building Department

The Planning Department provides advice and technical expertise to assist citizens, elected officials, committees, and public agencies in understanding controlling regulations, key issues, and priorities for community development, with a long term commitment to economic vitality, design quality, and environmental integrity.

The Building Department serves the public by creating partnerships with citizens and the developer, contractor, and business communities to accomplish mutually beneficial goals such as the safe, timely, and successful completion of projects. Rather than having an enforcement orientation, the department focuses on education, and strives to maintain a customer-service driven, problem solving orientation for the plan review, permitting, and inspection functions.

Customer service, with an emphasis on building partnerships, is our first priority.

City Planning and Building staff are here to assist you with your development projects. For more information on which staff member to reach out to, review the Planning and Building Staff Directory.
