Fire Service Area

The Whitefish Fire Service Area was established pursuant to Montana Code Annotated Title 7 - Local Government, Chapter 33 – Fire Protection, Part 24 – Fire Service Areas for approximately 86 square miles of unincorporated area surrounding the City of Whitefish.

The Whitefish Fire Service Area is governed by an elected board of five qualified trustees. 

The term of office, procedures for nominations, and elections are the same as those provided for rural fire district trustees in 7-33-2106

Your current Board of Trustees for the Whitefish Fire Service Area are:

Mark Carlson             term expires 2019

Scott Alexander          term expires 2020

Adam  Hammat          term expires 2021

Jim Dyon                    term expires 2021

 Phil Mitchell             term expires 2019

The Whitefish Fire Service Area has contracted with the City of Whitefish for fire protection through an interlocal agreement.

EMS services in the area are also provided by the City of Whitefish as part of the Flathead County EMS System.

The Whitefish Fire Service Area Trustees meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Fire Station # 22, located at the corner of Whitefish Stage Road and Hodgson Road, starting at 6:30 p.m.
