A quarterly financial update is prepared and presented to the Mayor & City Council. This update highlights trends, and larger variances from the budget.
The annual budget allocates and controls the cities financial resources to achieve the City's priorities and services. The final budget is not adopted until August each year.
Every year an auditor certifies that the city financial statements meet the requirements of GAAP and GASB. An auditor can have an unqualified opinion, in which he or she agrees with how the city's prepared the statements, or a qualified opinion, in which he or she states which aspects of the company's statements he or she does not agree with.
Annual Financial Reports
The City is required to file an annual financial report with the State of Montana's Department of Administration by December 31st of each year, or six months after each fiscal year end. The annual finanical reports below have not been audited, but do provide supplementary information that is not included in the City's audited financial statements.
